Utah's Emissions Inspection Requirements Explained
Ozzy's Auto Center is your one stop shop for all your State of Utah auto emissions and inspections needs. Our helpful staff will walk you through the requirements and we can usually renew your emissions on the spot!
According to the Utah Department of Motor Vehicles, vehicles less than six years old must pass an emissions test every two years. Vehicles with even-numbered model years will need their emissions test on even-numbered calendar years and vehicles with odd-numbered model years need the test on odd-numbered years. Vehicles older than six years require a yearly emissions test. OZZY'S AUTO CENTER provides emission testing, and we provide on-the-spot vehicle renewal, too.
Ozzy's Auto Center is an authorized station for on-the-spot renewal. Once we complete the emissions inspection, we will submit the transaction to the Utah DMV, allowing the taxes and fees to be paid, so our customers do not need to visit the DMV for their registration paperwork and new sticker!
What If My Car Fails The Test?
Emissions testing determines the level of air pollutants emission from the exhaust from a vehicle. When a vehicle fails an inspection, it indicates certain repairs must be made, or you cannot register the car. We test for levels of hydrocarbons, nitrogen oxide, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, and emissions during the inspection. We check for other signs of trouble with your car while it’s in our South Salt Lake auto service center to ensure our customer’s vehicles are sate for the road. span>
What can you do if your vehicle fails an emission test? When you choose Ozzy's Auto Center for your emissions, we will provide you with information regarding the vehicle’s problems that must be repaired to allow the car to pass inspection. You can obtain a free emission retest within 30 days.
